Kamaole Beaches in the Heart of Kihei

The Kamaole Beaches, often referred to as Kam I, Kam II, and Kam III, are a trio of stunning beaches located in the heart of Kihei, a vibrant coastal town on the sunny southwest shore of Maui. These beaches are beloved by both locals and visitors for their soft, white sand, clear turquoise waters, and excellent swimming and snorkeling conditions. Each beach has its own unique character and offers a range of amenities and activities, making them perfect for a day of fun in the sun.

Kamaole Beach Park I, the northernmost of the three, is a wide, sandy beach that’s perfect for sunbathing, beach volleyball, and picnicking. The beach is equipped with restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and barbecue grills, making it a great spot for families and groups. The rocky outcroppings at either end of the beach provide excellent snorkeling opportunities, with a variety of colorful fish and coral to discover. In the evenings, Kam I is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors to watch the stunning Maui sunsets.

Kamaole Beach Park II, located just south of Kam I, is a slightly smaller beach with a more intimate feel. The beach is bordered by a grassy park area with plenty of shade trees, perfect for relaxing and escaping the midday sun. Kam II is known for its excellent swimming conditions, with clear, calm waters that are perfect for families with young children. The beach also has a small reef just offshore that offers good snorkeling and the chance to see a variety of tropical fish. Like Kam I, Kamaole Beach Park II is equipped with restrooms, showers, and picnic facilities, making it a convenient and enjoyable spot for a day at the beach.

Kamaole Beach Park III, the southernmost of the three, is the largest and most popular of the Kamaole Beaches. This wide, sandy beach is over a third of a mile long and offers plenty of space for sunbathing, beach games, and water activities. Kam III is known for its excellent boogie boarding and body surfing conditions, with regular waves that are perfect for riding. The beach is also a great spot for snorkeling, with a reef that extends along much of its length and is home to a variety of marine life, including sea turtles and colorful fish. Kam III is equipped with restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and barbecue grills, as well as a large grassy park area that’s perfect for picnics and games. With its wide range of amenities and activities, Kamaole Beach Park III is a perfect destination for a fun-filled day at the beach on Maui.
